Following the success of our pre-season camps last summer, we are now offering two weeks of all-day camps, August 4-8 and August 11-15. The Pre-Season camps in August are great camps for all fencers in the Competitive, Pre-Competitive and Advanced Recreational programs to prepare fencers for the 2025 season.
We are excited to have AFA Coaches Lucas Mochko and Kriszti Hovanyi (both weeks) and AFA and Duke Epee Coach Ahmed Abdalah (August 11-15 only) and UNC-Head Coach Matt Jednak (both weeks) join us for our camp.
Who should attend the camp?
- Fencers looking to get a head start and be physically ready to train
- Fencers currently in the AFA team and Pre-Competitive programs are expected to attend
- Fencers who are interested in joining the Pre-competitive program for the upcoming season are expected to attend at least one of these camps
- Fencers ages 10 and over, who want to take their training to the next level
We highly recommend that fencers attend both camps if possible.
The goal of these camps is to prepare the fencers for the new season. This camp is open to all fencers who wish to get ready for the season before it starts and anyone who wants to improve their strength and endurance. This camp will help competing fencers prepare for the first tournaments of the new season, which are only a few weeks away.
Fencers need to bring the following items to camp every day (in a bag) and label all items with their NAME:
- Complete fencing gear
- Extra t-shirt to change and a small towel
- If you have shoes specifically for fencing, please bring another pair of athletic shoes for non-fencing activities
- Water bottle and healthy snacks
- Exercise mat
Camp activities: Warmup, conditioning, footwork, skills and drills, bouting, armory, stretching/yoga, sports psychology and mental preparation.
Dates and times:
- 9am – 4pm for both Pre-Season camps
- Pre-Season Camp1: Aug 4 – Aug 8
- Pre-Season Camp 2: Aug 11 – Aug 15
