Maddie began fencing at Apex Fencing Academy at age 12 and quickly became a top performer in Region 6, competing in foil and epee across Y14, Cadet, and Junior age groups. She has placed in the top 16 at national tournaments (NACs). Before becoming a coach, she mentored many younger fencers at the club.
While attending college, Maddie primarily coaches at AFA summer camps.
“I love introducing fencing to new athletes. Watching them grow in skill and passion motivates me to keep improving as a coach. I hope to see more young fencers compete regionally and nationally.”
Maddie’s competitive background sparked her interest in officiating. Now an N2 nationally rated referee, she aims to earn her FIE rating and officiate at the Olympics.
“I also want to help develop new referees at the club. Officiating gave me a deeper understanding of the sport and elevated my performance.”
