Pre-Competitive & AFA Team

The Pre-Competitive and AFA Competitive Team programs are for fencers who love competing and are ready to make a commitment to regular training and competition. Fencers will follow a set training schedule, including private lessons to help develop their technical and tactical skills. Fencers are expected to compete regularly throughout the season as defined in our competition calendar. These programs are on a year-round, continuous basis.

Fencers interested in the competitive programs will need to:

  • Attend the Pre-Nationals camp in June and Pre-season camps in August
  • Attend the yearly Pre-season meeting in August
  • Have their own complete competition fencing gear.
  • Have a USA Fencing competitive membership.
  • Use the Wait List to register.

Pre-Competitive Program

The Pre-Competitive program is for fencers who have been participating in the Novice Cup and love competing. The training in these programs focuses on developing more advanced fencing skills as well as preparing for competition. Fencers in this class are also expected to participate in an additional fitness class for improved agility and endurance.

AFA Team

Apex Fencing Academy Competitive Team

Join our competitive team at Apex Fencing Academy and take your skills to the next level. Our team competes in tournaments at the local, regional, and national level with the goal of qualifying for the Junior Olympics and National Championships. Members of the competitive team, you’ll receive unlimited practice time, first choice in private lesson times, and unlimited open bouting. Our experienced coaches are dedicated to helping each fencer reach their full potential and achieve their goals. Join us to be part of a community of fencers striving for excellence and become the best fencer you can be!

Apex Fencers have been representing team USA on the FIE international circuit. Our AFA alumni fencers have become members of UNC Tarheels NCAA Division1, NJIT NCAA Division1 program, Wellesley College NCAA Division3 program, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets Fencing Club, Appalachian State Club, NSCU Club, UNC-Charlotte Club, St. John’s College Club and more.
